Donald B. Campbell is a Saskatoon writer, actor, director and English as a Second Language teacher. He was a member of Twenty-Fifth Street Theatre's now defunct Playwrights Unit. Two of his plays have been chosen for the Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre's Spring Festival of New Plays: "Waking Up Demons" (1996) and "Dancing Backwards" (2003). Regina's Globe Theatre selected his plays "Fishing Buddies" (also performed at the 2003 Saskatoon Fringe Festival) and "The High Road" for its On The Line festival of short plays in 2002 and 2003. One of his comic monologues is included in "2000% Cracked Wheat", an anthology of prairie humour that was published by Coteau Books. He has been involved with (as playwright, director or actor) 10 Fringe Festival productions in Saskatoon and/or Edmonton.

Synopsis:
"Dancing Backwards" mixes drama and comedy, present and past,and reality and dream. Turning 40, Simon looks back at his life as he faces a crucial decision. "Man" acts as both a friend and foe. He challenges the choice that Simon made many years ago to take a safe path and to abandon the things that mattered most to him.

Production History:
"Dancing Backwards" was selected for the Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre's 2003 Spring Festival of New Plays, where it was workshopped and performed as a staged reading. A full production was part of the 2003 Saskatoon International Fringe Festival.
